02 If you have a guitar, interface, DAW, and a preferred guitar plug-in at home then you're starting at a good place. You're going to learn which guitar amps (topology) to use for particular movements in your music, which cabs work best with them, and microphone techniques to help them best sit in your mix. You'll also master layering , FX processing and quad tracking to beef up your mixes.

My story starts with a record called "Surfing With The Alien" by Joe Satriani. When I first started playing I always craved more. More notes, more modes, a greater challenge that surpases my current level. This body of work spurred this craving and I've been hooked ever since.

AJ began his Professional Career as a lead guitarist after his brief time at world-renown music school Berklee College of Music. His 2013 debut record, "Out In The Open" caught the attention of Jan Cyrka, the legendary founder of Jam Track Central. This put Al along-side the worlds most prolific modern guitar artists such as Guthrie Govan, Andy James, Marco Sfogli and so much more.

After a decade of shredding heads he noticed a real need in the guitar community, that so many other guitar enthusiasts yearned to play better thus sharing their own passion for the guitar as well. Now it's AJ’s mission in life to share his knowledge of over two decades with guitarists all around the world who are striving to enhance their skills as well. Welcome to the ShredFest Academy!

Course Curriculum

Tone Lab Overview

We'll start out with the essentials you'll need to craft the perfect guitar tones. From your guitar pickups and interface to your computer speakers we'll get you set up with everything you'd need to know to bring out the best in your sound.

Rhythm Guitar Lab

We'll help you dial in an amazing rhythm tone and how to best process, layer, and quad track for hard-hitting mixes.

Lead Guitar Lab

Next we'll help you dial in the right amplifier, gain staging, cab, and microphone placement for the most searing lead tones you can imagine.

Bass Guitar Lab

In this new addition we'll help you dial in your bass guitar tones to create a nice and full sound for the low end of your mix.

Headrush FX Tone Modeling (Bonus)

For when you need to hit the road and take your tones with your for live performances. Learn how I create my tones through my Headrush Prime Audio Unit for guitar.

DSPS Tone Modeling (Bonus)

In this tutorial I walk you through how I used Neural DSP's Quad Cortex audio unit to create the heaviest tone I've ever crafted inside my "Elemental" session.
